Pregnancy and maternity are protected

A girl or mother can ask for maternity protection and equal health care before, during and after birth.

How you can use it

1. 1Tell a doctor, school or employer you need maternity and health protection.
2. 2Ask for equal prenatal, birth and post-natal care.
3. 3If dismissed or denied care, contact an advocate or complaints body.

What a violation looks like

A pregnant girl is denied care, or a mother is dismissed because she is pregnant.

“I need equal maternity protection and health care.”
