Level 5: Equal for every child

CRPD Articles 29 and 30 · ICESCR Article 15

Culture, sport and civic life should include you

You can join sport, recreation, cultural activities, consultations and, when you are old enough, accessible civic processes.

How you can use it

  1. 1Tell the organiser what access support you need.
  2. 2Ask for captions, an interpreter, an accessible venue, transport or an assistant.
  3. 3Report exclusion to the organiser, council, equality body or advocate.

What a violation looks like

A child with disability is excluded from sport, culture or a public consultation because no access support is offered.

Words you can use

“I want to take part. Please provide the access support I need.”

If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
