CRPD Article 10
Disability does not make your life worth less
A child with disability can ask for equal life-saving treatment and challenge any assumption that their life is less valuable.
How you can use it
- 1Tell the doctor you want the same life-saving treatment as any other child.
- 2Ask for reasons in writing if treatment is withheld.
- 3Contact a patient advocate, lawyer or disability advocate immediately.
What a violation looks like
A child with disability is denied life-saving treatment because staff assume a lower quality of life.
Words you can use
“I want the same life-saving treatment as any other child.”
If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
