Level 2: Family and home

CRC Article 23 · CRPD Articles 7 and 19

Disability is not a reason to exclude you

You have the right to dignity, to be heard, and to live in the community with the support you need. Disability alone is not a reason to lock you away.

How you can use it

  1. 1Explain what support helps you take part.
  2. 2Say: “Please include my views in the support plan.”
  3. 3Request the plan in writing. If a barrier remains, contact a disability advocate.

What a violation looks like

Adults speak about you as if you are not there, or separate you from family only because of disability.

Words you can use

“Please include my views in the support plan.”

If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
