ICCPR Second Optional Protocol
You must not be exposed to the death penalty
You can ask a court not to impose or expose you to execution, and request an individual assessment before any transfer to a place where that risk exists.
How you can use it
- 1Tell the lawyer, judge, consulate or trusted adult immediately if execution is a risk.
- 2Say: “I need protection from execution and a review before any transfer.”
- 3Ask that transfer wait until the assessment and appeal are finished.
What a violation looks like
A child is sentenced to death, or transferred without an individual assessment of execution risk.
Words you can use
“I need protection from execution. Please assess the risk before any transfer.”
If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
