Level 2: Family and home

CRC Article 9

You should not be separated unless it is necessary

You have the right to live with your parents unless that is not safe. If you are separated, you should be told why, have a say, and keep safe contact where possible.

How you can use it

  1. 1Tell the caseworker or court what you want and any safety worries.
  2. 2Say: “I want my views recorded. Please explain why separation is needed.”
  3. 3Ask for the decision and next review date in writing.

What a violation looks like

Adults separate you without explaining, without listening, or block safe contact for no good reason.

Words you can use

“I want my views recorded. Please explain why this is necessary.”

If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
