You can ask to be with family across a border

If family is in another country, you can ask for safe contact or reunification, with help filling in forms.

How you can use it

1. 1Tell a caseworker, immigration office, consulate, lawyer or family member.
2. 2Ask for the right form, an interpreter and help with documents.
3. 3Request a receipt and decision date. If delayed, ask legal aid to review it.

What a violation looks like

A family-reunification request is ignored or refused with no child-sensitive reasons.

“I want help with a safe family-reunification application.”

If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
