Communities can take part in their own development

Indigenous children can take part, through family and community, in decisions about their community’s social and cultural development.

How you can use it

  1. 1Ask how family, kinship or community structures will be included.
  2. 2Say: “Please do not impose this program without our participation.”
  3. 3Ask an advocate to record the request for community participation.

What a violation looks like

The State imposes a program on an Indigenous community with no meaningful participation.

Words you can use

“Please include my community in decisions about our development.”
