ICESCR Articles 6 and 7 · CRPD Article 27
Young people leaving care can ask for fair work
You can ask for vocational training, safe conditions, equal pay and reasonable adjustments so you can work.
How you can use it
- 1Tell a school, training provider or employer what work you want and what adjustment would help.
- 2Ask for accessible recruitment and safe conditions.
- 3If excluded or harassed, contact a labour inspector, union, lawyer or advocate.
What a violation looks like
A young person leaving care is denied training or a job because of care status or disability.
Words you can use
“Please assess my ability, not assumptions. I need a fair chance to work.”
If speaking is hard, write it, draw it, send a message, or ask a trusted adult to say it with you.
